Just installed LibreOffice 5.1.6.2 (according to the 'Get Info' information) on my Mac (MacOS Sierra 10.12.2). The LibreOffice icon itself in the Applications folder is correct, but all of the .ods and .odt files I have created show the generic Mac file icon, rather than a specific icon. I took a peek at the package contents, and in the Info.plist file, there are references to icns files, which files exist in the Resources folder. I reset the launch services using lsregister, rebooted .. no change.
Apr 29, 2016 Missing Icons in Word 2016 for Mac. I upgraded Office 2016 for Mac to the latest version (15.17) but when I opened Microsoft Word, some vital icons in the ribbon including Bold, Italic and Underline disappeared and got replaced with funny icons. Also, Word keeps behaving erratically after the update and encounters even more errors. At least in Word for Windows you can scroll through the list. Also missing is the important ‘subset’ pull-down list. If Word for Mac supported the full range of characters, the subset feature would let you jump to a group of characters.
If you just want a few commands on your fingertips, you want to use the Quick Access Toolbar. Those are the icons that are above the Ribbon and they are always on no matter what tab you are on in the Ribbon. To customize the Quick Access Toolbar, open or create an Excel, Word, or PowerPoint document. Scroll through the icons or jump to a category by clicking a name in the navigation pane at the left. Beginning with version 1908, you can search for icons by using the box near the top left corner. Choose an icon and then click Insert at the lower right.
I'd upload screenshots to help, but evidently your system is set up to distrust new LibreOffice users so .. sorry (not really my fault, but I'm Canadian, so apologizing is second nature). Feels like sort of a lukewarm welcome to this software so far. Anyway, thanks for any advice.
P.S. If certain tags are REQUIRED in order to post a question, perhaps that could be more clearly indicated on the screen somewhere?
