Windows installations and Mac installations are different please read the following instructions. Where you get the download depends on your UF affiliation for Windows users due to licensing restrictions.

Faculty and Staff

• Will my Lync or Skype client interface change?
  • If you are using Lync 2013 or Skype for Business 2015 (as part of Office 2013) your client will get an updated user interface after you have migrated. Clients on Skype for Business 2016, Office 2011 for Mac, or Skype for Mac will not see any change.
• Will I need to upgrade my client as part of the migration?
  • On PC, UFIT supports Lync 2013, Skype for Business 2015 (Office 2013) and Skype for Business 2016 with at least the office updates from July 2016 installed.
  • On Mac, UFIT supports Lync 2011 for Mac and Skype for Business Mac on the latest patch level.
• Will my contacts move with me when I am migrated to Skype for Business?
  • Yes! Your contacts are migrated along with your account.
• Will my existing conferences continue to work after I am migrated to Skype for Business?
  • Yes, your existing meetings will be migrated.
• Will my meeting content migrate to Skype for Business?
  • Yes, your meeting content will be migrated along with your account.
• Will my Mobile client continue to work?
  • You should ensure that you are using the Skype for Business Mobile application for iOS/Android.

• Will my 3rd party IM Client continue to work after the upgrade?
  • Users of 3^rdparty IM clients such as Pidgin or Adium should confirm that they are configured to autodiscover server settings and not specifying any servers by name. Please note, these clients are not supported by Microsoft and support is best effort from UFIT.
• I joined a meeting and got an error that “I couldn’t connect to the server for presenting right now”
  • This is a known issue with earlier versions of Lync 2013 and Skype for Business clients. UFIT recommends updating to the latest Office updates or at a minimum, the update packages from July 7th, 2016 which fix this client issue.
