Jul 03, 2014 Question: Q: Need to change name on Track Changes I purchased this MAC all-in-one from my nephew, and although he has deleted his name as the owner, his last name keeps showing up as the person who makes suggestions in Track Changes. A user called in, reporting that Word’s Track changes-function tagged her as “Author”, instead of her name. I opened a remote session, and started out by confirming that everything else was working correctly, and that her name had been set as the author in the settings for Microsoft Word. 1 In new documents, the name that appears as the Author property (visible in the Document Information Panel) comes from the User name box in the Word Options dialog box. To see the Author property for a document, click the Microsoft Office Button, point to Prepare, and then click Properties. Change the author name for new documents. Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Word Options.
Step 2:
In the screenshot below, the Track Changes icon is illuminated, indicating that the Track Changes feature is enabled. If Track Changes is illuminated in your document, you must disable this feature before you can remove editor comments.
Step 3:
Click on the Track Changes icon to disable Track Changes. In the screenshot below, notice that the Track Changes icon is no longer illuminated.

To delete a comment after it has been addressed, place your cursor at the beginning of the document and click the Next icon.
Step 5:
This will bring you to the first editor comment. Notice that the first editor comment is now highlighted. To remove this comment, click the Delete icon, outlined in red below.

In the next screenshot, the editor comment has been deleted. The cursor will automatically advance to the next comment. Repeat Step 5 to delete the remaining comments.

From that point on, any changes made to the document are color-coded based on who is making the changes and what level of markup is displayed:
For Simple Markup, a color-coded bar appears to the left of a paragraph, indicating that some change was made.
For All Markup, new text appears in a specific color, depending on who made the changes. Added text appears with a color-coded underline and deleted text appears with color-coded strikethrough. These text highlights are called revision marks.
For No Markup, the changes are tracked but not displayed in the document. This is a great setting to choose for the least amount of distraction. (The revision marks can be seen by choosing All Markup instead of No Markup.)
Word continues to track changes and edits in your document until you turn off Track Changes. To do so, click the Track Changes button again.
Although the Track Changes button appears highlighted while the feature is active, a better way to check — and use — this feature is to activate the Track Settings option on the status bar. To set this option, right-click the status bar and choose Track Changes. As a bonus, you can click this item on the status bar to activate or deactivate revision marks in your document.
